Making Wet Specimens

Описание к видео Making Wet Specimens

Wet specimens are common in learning centers, school, and museums so why not have your own science display? Learn how to make your very own! This techinque can be used to preserve beloved pets who pass away or be a science display. No animals were harmed to make this video because they were already dead when I found them. It's amazing how easy it is to find dead animals when you're looking for them, especially when you live out in the country like we do.

Specimens:
Rat
Eastern Mole ("Common Mole")
Mouse
Octopus

Materials:
Formalin
Respirator (if not in a really well ventilated room, or outside)
Gloves
Goggles
Needle and Syringe
Glass jar (with a complete seal is ideal but not necessary)
70% Isopropyl alcohol
Puppy pee pad
Distilled water
Coffee filter (to strain used formalin so it can be stored for a second use)
