Ilioinguinal nerve anatomy

Описание к видео Ilioinguinal nerve anatomy

The ilioinguinal nerve runs from its L1 spinal nerve route, around the abdomen anterior to the quadratus lumborum and iliacus muscles, and then through the transversus abdominis and internal oblique muscles (innervating them) to enter the inguinal canal. It leaves the inguinal canal through the superficial inguinal ring and enters the scrotum or the labia majora, carrying sensory innervation from the skin of the anterior parts of those structures and from the skin of the superficial medial thigh.

it is at risk of damage in this anterior abdominal wall area, which can lead to pain or altered sensation.
