Philippe Karl: „Show me your canter story“ (Ecole de Légèreté)

A little story of success thanks to Philippe Karl and his „Ecole de Légèreté“.
This is a short clip showing the difficulties I had with my Pinto Gu-Ye-Quo-Ni in Canter and how happy I am today with his development.

G. has had always trouble and severe difficulties in canter. He used to buck a lot being asked for canter and was hardly to control. Already in very young age he had locking stifles and we had him diagnosed a bit later with a severe injury of his tough flexible tissue in his right stifle.
He refused left lead canter and I have never in my life seen him change lead in the field. Counter canter will never be his best friend. He even sometimes showed signs of lameness afterwards.
During my teacher training with PK we worked systematically on all basics, using his full capacities in walk and trot, straightening and taught him all sideway movements in walk and trot to help him best with his balance to work on the quality of the canter.
He is schooled in sideway movements in canter and Spanish walk. But the cherry on the cake was the Piaffe, which is still very helpful for him and is keeping him supple and strong.
His canter quality and departures had improved a lot already but as soon as I started to concentrate on flying changes his whole behavior of „escaping“ started again!
I always believed in him getting it one day. But only when I decided not to take him to a clinic anymore and just to work playfully and easy on it- he finally got it.
He’s 20 now. And he is fitter and more healthy than ever before!
Thanks to a wholistic and fabulous way of training that is applicable to ALL horses and always keeps the horses nature in the center of the training scale, my horse became more sound with age!
I’m just soooo proud of my pony, all he‘s done for me and all I’ve learned from him.
I hope, our story will give hope to those who are also facing difficulties during their training.
