The right to camp freely was lost when Dartmoor’s sixth-largest landowner – the hedge fund manager and Conservative party donor Alexdander Darwall – won a high court case overturning it.

The Guardian followed people on one of the UK’s largest ever protests over public use of the countryside and joined wild campers on Dartmoor as they seek to appeal against the court’s decision and extend the right to roam with new laws.
