The Government of India continues its efforts in the sensitive case of Nimisha Priya, an Indian nurse facing execution in Yemen. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated it has provided legal assistance, appointed a lawyer, and arranged regular consular visits to help resolve the issue. "We have also arranged for regular counselor visits and we are also in touch with local authorities as also the family members to resolve this issue," the MEA spokesperson confirmed. These efforts, along with interventions by the Kerala Chief Minister, the Prime Minister, and India's highest Sunni cleric, led to a delay in the execution scheduled for July 16.
