Chelsey's Hodgkin Lymphoma Story: "They Thought My Symptoms Were Stress!" | The Patient Story

Chelsey Gomez was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma at the age of 28 after experiencing fatigue, itching, vertigo and swollen lymph nodes. Initially, doctors dismissed her concerns, attributing her symptoms to stress. However, after a swollen lymph node did not go away, she went to urgent care and was eventually admitted to the hospital and was diagnosed with stage 2 Hodgkin’s lymphoma.   

In this story, Chelsey highlights the emotional turmoil she faced after learning about her diagnosis, the challenges she had with her first oncologist, who was dismissive and not transparent about treatment options and her allergic reaction to bleomycin, one her chemotherapy drugs.

Despite these difficulties, Chelsey remains determined to educate others about cancer and to prioritize her own happiness and family.
