(28 Feb 1972) IRA revenge - bomb blast shatters Officer's Mess of the 16th Parachute Brigade at Aldershot. 7 people killed, five women, one gardener, and ironically a Roman Catholic Padre attached to the Regiment. 17 others injured. The IRA in Dublin claimed responsibility.
