Take a walk along the golden sands of Keawakapu Beach in Wailea on the tropical island of Maui. You'll glide across wet sand as gentle waves roll across your feet. Listen to the sounds of the surf rolling onto the shoreline as you travel across this long beach, ending with waves splashing across a scattering lava rock on the shore. This beach is popular for the snorkeling and diving. The view is of the uninhabited island of Kaho'olawe, the island of Lanai'i in the far distance, and the second volcano that makes up the island. We are walking on the largest of the volcanos, Haleakala.

This is early morning, because the parking is limited. Most of the beachgoers come from the condominiums around here. Maybe you are on vacation and on a tour of the islands, but here it is you alone strolling this beach as you walk past a few people out for a morning stroll across the wet sand. The smoothness of the camera makes you feel you are here on the most exotic island in Hawaii.

This is the southern most entrance to this long beach; there are two other entrances to this beach. Near the end of your walk, you'll see the Andaz Resort up ahead. This beach is the first beach in Wailea, with all the major resorts there.

There is one porta potty at the entrance, in the parking lot, and a shower. Use caution in and around the ocean, unforeseen events could put you in danger. Aloha from Maui.
