MLOG 17
One of the most exciting art installations I've seen in my life was the Umbrella Sky Project in Agueda, Portugal. It was a hectic but fun filled art viewing day in Portugal! I hope you guys enjoy the video!

FEIRA DA LADRA:
-Open only on Tuesdays and Saturdays 8am - 5pm
-Located at Jardim Boto Machado (GPS: 38.71578, -9.12434)
-The closest train station is Santa Apolonia
-It translates to "Thieves' Market"
-"Galo de Barcelos" or Barcelos Rooster is a well known icon/symbol of Portugal

We didn't actually intend to stop at Aveiro station but it was a major stop that we had to get off at before heading to Agueda station.

AVEIRO:
-I don't know who made the cows, the Banksy looking work and the stenciled person, but if you do, please let me know!
-The portrait was done by Vhils (Alexandre Farto) and was hand chiseled!

-The stone head sculpture with the arrow filled legs was done by Luis Queimadela as part of the collection called "InVitro"

-The fenced-off building with the Azulejo tiles was the Old Aveiro Train Station
-Azulejo is a form of Portuguese and Spanish painted tin-glazed ceramic tile work

When I talked about the lady with the nails:
I was taking some photos and I saw her fumbling through her purse. She came up to me and started speaking Portuguese. I said "I'm sorry I don't speak it." Then she said, "Oh! In English then, my nails are too long so I can't grab my keys. Please help me!" It sounded strange. I was close to doing it but the lovely lady accompanying me who has great intuition said "Mark. No." I told the lady "Why don't you...I don't know, just flip your purse over?" And we walked away. After a few seconds, she miraculously was able to grab her keys. Hmmm.....interesting.

Also, if you're wondering why I'm chewing gum, here is a proper explanation. I usually don't chew gum but on that day, I didn't eat nor drink anything at all. It was the last day of my weight cut before the weigh-ins for the Global Stick and Blade Alliance World Championships. I was very very close to the limit so I had to make sure not to eat nor drink anything. The gum helped me to not feel hungry. I hope I get a chewing gum sponsorship deal someday....

UMBRELLA SKY PROJECT:
-It was started in 2012 by Sextafeira Producoes (Friday Productions) which is a creative agency/marketing group based in Agueda.
-The Agitagueda Festival, where the first Umbrella Sky Project was done, started in 2006 in order to revitalize the city.
