Biography: Professor Latham needs no introduction. As stated by Professor Frederick Morgeson, “Gary has literally done it all in our field.” He is well known for his scientific work on goal setting, which he co-authored with Edwin A. Locke. He has also made significant contributions to practice by, for example, serving as a past president of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP). The Society of Industrial and Organisational Psychology of South Africa (SIOPSA) is a proud partner of SIOP. Professor Latham received numerous scientist and practitioner awards from institutions like the Academy of Management, American Psychological Association, SIOP, and Canadian Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology to name a few. He is currently serving as the Secretary of State Professor and Professor of Organizational Behaviour and HR Management at the University of Toronto in Canada.

Background to this interview: Nearing the end of 2019, SIOPSA had the privilege to engage Professor Latham in a discussion on topics that ranged from evidence-based practice to mobilising industrial and organisational psychology in the 2020s.
