Ducati 600 Supersport Full Restoration EP2

Описание к видео Ducati 600 Supersport Full Restoration EP2

Welcome to episode 2 of the Ducati restoration series. In this episode there is lots of items to cover hence the reason the video is over 30mins long.

The first job i tackle is completely stripping down and giving a brief description of the parts needed to make a motorcycle wheel function unlike a car wheel where the wheel is just a wheel. After the description i tore down the other wheel off camera to save boring you with a repeat of the same process then it was onto taking apart the swing arm this didnt take long as there isnt much to it.

Once all the parts were torn apart i spent hours at the blasting cabinet getting rid of all the old paint and corrosion, a tedious job but well worth it for a professional finish. Once blasting was completed i coated any areas prone to rusting with hydrate 80 to kill any remaining rust and to protect the areas in the future.

Then it was onto the painting stages, Youve seen me do this a million times now so i wont bore you with in depth detail but it simply goes etch primer, high build, wet flat, base coat, clear coat, de-nib and polish and after that you will be left with parts painted better then when they left Ducati all those years ago.

I then moved my attention onto rust removal and plating of all the ancillary parts that i will need to build the frame back up. So the small parts went for a bath in deox c rust eater and the larger parts were put into the media blaster and blasted. Once the rust was removed it was a case of polishing, zinc plating then choosing what items would be yellow or silver passivated.

Then came the fun part of rebuilding the frame, with new and restored parts, the sprocket carrier and wheels got new wheel bearings, the frame got new stem bearings and the rear wheel got a new sprocket. As stated in the video the only old crusty part that was refitted was the front shocks as i need to source replacements as they are too far gone to be economically saved.

And thats about it for this episode, As i said in an earlier post i apologize for the lateness of this video and a few of my dodgy shots as i was quite ill at the time of making this video and unfortunately i kind of shows int he quality of this episodes filming and editing, But never mind the workmanship on the Ducati is still my top quality work and ill be back on top form for the next episode.

As usual i really hope you enjoy this series of videos and leave a like and a comment to let me know what you think.

Enjoy.
