This video is my attempt to share and explain (for what I can) a couple of ideas and techniques I have developed over the last few years while trying to find ways to expand the potential of my mono-synth (MicroBrute). The first method involves sample based synthesis (a very long winded and deliberately time consuming way of doing it) using recordings of single notes of a raw oscillator imported into EXS24 sampler in Logic. The second is using the audio input, and MIDI In connections in a synth to add additional oscillators to its signal path. These are definitely widely used and expanded upon methods, and I strongly encourage anyone interested in creating there own personal synth sounds to try out any short cuts or variations of these methods if they have not already. My hope is to give weirdos like me a few ideas, and possibly some inspiration in there own experiments of sound design. I also hope that the current up and comers of the electronic instrument community will find use to engage and interact with each other in the comments upon each others ideas, practices, and applications of this and the infinite other ways to create our own unique sounds out of the limitations or normalities of the tools we are given access to.
