South African motorists will have to dig deeper into their pockets as of midnight. The Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources has announced that the price of a litre of 93 octane petrol will increase by one cent, while 95 octane is set to increase by 8 cents per litre.

However, the diesel price will decrease by between 8 and 10 cents per litre, while illuminating paraffin will decrease by 15 cents per litre at the retail level.

The Department has attributed the adjustment to various factors, including a slight increase in the prices of Brent crude oil during the period under review.
