Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) have sealed a seat sharing agreement in Maharashtra for the 2019 Lok sabha elections. A consensus has been reached for 40 of the 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra. Consensus has still to be reached on the remaining 8 seats. NCP chief Sharad Pawar announced that the two parties will contest 2019 election together along with Peasants and Workers Party of India. In 2014, Congress had fielded candidates in 27 constituencies in Maharashtra, while NCP had contested on 21 seats.
