I often get asked why quail aren't laying eggs yet even though they are plenty old enough. More often than not, it is related to the amount of light they are getting. They need 14 hours a day of light in order to produce consistently. Right now, at least where I live, it is winter time and the days are only about 10 hours a day so there isn't enough daylight to keep them laying.
