She tells the owner of the Italian pensione she is staying at-- played by Isa Miranda-- that she likes traveling alone. Jane has a sense of adventure and wonder, but after years of being alone, she is also yearning deeply for romance. David Lean's and H.E. Bates's adapted Arthur Laurents's stage "The Time of the Cuckoo". Cinematography by Jack Hildyard, directed by Lean, 1955.
