As the violent protests threw Sheikh Hasina govt out, Nobel Laureate Md Yunus was sworn in as Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor. Muhammad Yunus, along with 17 members of the interim govt, took oath at a ceremony in Dhaka on August 08. PM Modi congratulated MD Yunus for his new innings as Head of interim govt and emphasised on early return to normalcy. However, PM Modi also expressed concern for the minorities, especially Hindus, who have continuously been at the center stage of atrocities. Hindu temples, businesses and institutions are being targeted in Bangladesh. Hundreds of Hindus took to the Dhaka streets on Aug 9 protesting against attacks on their properties in Bangladesh. Also, EAM Jaishankar expressed concern over the situation in the neighboring country while highlighting attacks on minorities. Meanwhile, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor also raised concern over the violence against Minorities in Dhaka. Earlier, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and left the country on August 05. Over 300 people have been killed in the violent clashes in just three weeks since the outbreak of the protest.
