After the recent terrorist attack in Jammu & Kashmir’s Pahalgam district, the Indian government has taken strict action against Pakistani nationals living in India.
On 25th April 2025, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced that it will cancel the visas of all Pakistani nationals starting from 27th April. Medical visas will also become invalid after 29th April.
According to intelligence reports, around 5,000 Pakistani nationals are living in Delhi. Authorities have been ordered to make sure they return to Pakistan immediately. The Delhi Police Special Branch has received the list of these people and is taking necessary action.
However, Hindu Pakistani nationals holding Long-Term Visas (LTVs) will not be affected by this decision.
Similarly, Maharashtra Minister Yogesh Kadam said that 5,000 Pakistani nationals are living in Maharashtra. There were rumours that 107 of them had gone missing, but Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis denied this and assured that all Pakistanis will be deported without delay.
This decision is important for India’s security. Investigations have found that about 15 local Kashmiris helped the terrorists during the Pahalgam attack — by sharing information about police locations, offering hiding places, and keeping weapons. Hence, authorities have asked citizens to stay alert and immediately report any suspicious activity.

Meanwhile, India has suspended the Indus Waters Treaty after the Pahalgam attack. Under the treaty, Pakistan had rights over the Jhelum River, even though it starts in India. On 26th April, Pakistan accused India of suddenly releasing water into the Jhelum River, which caused flooding in Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. A water emergency was declared there, leading to panic among residents. Pakistani media called it a violation of water agreements.
In a shocking statement, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif admitted that Pakistan funded terrorism for Western countries over the last 30 years. His confession proves Pakistan’s long involvement in terrorism.
On the international front, India has received strong support from countries like the US, Israel, Russia, and many Muslim nations like Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, and Iraq.
Jordan’s King Abdullah II, a direct descendant of Prophet Muhammad, even personally called Prime Minister Narendra Modi to show his support.
However, China has not shown any support.
On the other hand, Pakistan’s Minister Hanif Abbasi has threatened India with nuclear missiles. For information, India has 180 nuclear weapons, slightly more than Pakistan’s 170. Experts say this threat shows Pakistan’s fear, trying to involve third-party nations.
Prime Minister Modi and Indian leaders have hinted that India may soon take a big step in response to the Pahalgam attack. We will have to wait and watch.
