Exploring Huddersfields Derelict Colosseum Nightclub Turned Into A Vintage Hoarders Dumping Ground

While venturing around my hometown of Huddersfield looking at potential abandoned or left sites to explore the wonderful Colosseum caught my eye and I have been watching it for years.

So when out and about one night I noticed a random gentleman entering the site in the most peculiar way so I assumed he must have been homeless and I guess I was right as taking my chance to explore this place we did find signs of someone living here.

However, upon entering the site set to apparently be one of the biggest nightclubs in Europe which is in doubt we were met by the sight of a hoarder's dream.

The building itself is in a bad state of disrepair so how this place can become anything personally I cannot see it happening for quite some time as it's left to rot and ruin but inside is a magical wonderland of the most random things.

Filled to the brim with random items, electronics, and some of the craziest statues and random items I have ever seen I was quite blown away.

Noone expects to go to a building and find a massive Dalek and King Tutankhamun's Coffin all in one place so enjoy

The former riding school first opened to the public for entertainment in 1848 and was later used as a drill hall and armoury and opened as the Theatre Royal in 1881.

It became the Hippodrome Theatre in 1905 and featured legendary escape artist Harry Houdini when he performed in the Huddersfield Hippodrome in 1911. The theatre was re-named the Hippodrome and Opera House in 1926.

In 1958 it went from being the Tudor House Super Cinema to the Essoldo but was hit by fire in 1967. Its interior was damaged but the exterior walls survived.

In the 70s it was re-named the Classic and then in the 80s the Cannon group took over until 1998 when it closed.
