In China, the white Magnolia is called the Jade Orchid. The reason is readily apparent; especially from the quality of translucence shared by both the precious Jade and the glorious white Magnolia. Translucence, approaching a sort of ‘luminescence’, is the enchantment of the Magnolia, a quality that delights and enraptures even the casual admirer.
