Join me in the machine shop where we will continue the sine plate project. In this video I’ll finish the mounting and positioning hardware like the hold down clamps for the magnetic chuck and and the locking strap to retain the sine plate on the gauge blocks. In making these components I’ll be using both 4140 and low carbon steel and will be working with the vertical milling machine (plus the rotary table) and the metal lathe. The non chromoly steel parts will be black oxide coated and sealed. Once the mag chuck is mounted I’ll go through the procedure of grinding it in on the sine plate but as you’ll see I have trouble grinding the aluminum and have to resort to fly cutting the base with a boring head. Yes you heard right, a boring head. To top off the video I get to use the new sine plate extensively to rework the collet blocks I started so long ago.
