Frank R. “Bob” Walker—grandson of Placerita Canyon homesteader Frank Evans “Papa” Walker (1886–1971)—shares the remarkable history of the 1935 Ford V8 flatbed truck and 1922 Fordson tractor he donated to the Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society in 2022.

This video documents the condition of the truck exactly as it arrived at the Santa Clarita History Center: weathered, storied, and asleep after decades of quiet. Thanks to the dedicated volunteers of the Santa Clarita Valley Corvette Club, the truck underwent a careful restoration in 2023–2024, returning to full running condition and even joining recent SCV Fourth of July Parades—a piece of local heritage rumbling back to life.

About the Vehicles

• 1935 Ford V8 Flatbed Truck – Bought new by F.E. Walker and used on the family ranch in Placerita Canyon (now Placerita Canyon State Park and East Walker Ranch Open Space). Constructed originally as a cab-and-chassis, its wooden bed was hand-built from lumber hauled home on the truck’s first journey.

• 1922 Fordson Tractor – Believed to have belonged to Sand Canyon vintner and clay miner Tall Bello. Abandoned decades ago on Walker land, it later migrated between family properties before returning home to SCV as a centenarian artifact.
