Taiwanese pro-democracy leaders have warned China's intention to forcefully reunify the island nation will lead to similar anti-democratic crackdowns seen in Hong Kong.

"We must prepare, the threats from China are escalating and require a serious level," says the leader of Taiwan's Sunflower Movement Lin Fei-Fan.
