The Goose and the Goshawk | Khushal Khattak | Falconry

Описание к видео The Goose and the Goshawk | Khushal Khattak | Falconry

Born in 1613 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, present-day Pakistan, Khushal Khan Khattak, has been termed by many as the greatest poet of Pashto, a branch of Indo-Iranian family of languages, spoken by some 55 million people on both sides of the Pak-Afghan border. Like many other scholars of yore, Khushal was a polymath. He was at the same time an accomplished poet, a physician, a jurist, a dedicated falconer, a tribal leader, and a military commander.
Khushal has tried his hand in almost all genres of his era, including lyrical poetry, epic, quatrain, musaddas, and mukhammas etc. Contrary to other Eastern names like Khayyam, Hafiz, and Rumi, Khushal’s work has, unfortunately, been overlooked by the West. One possible reason is that there are very few renderings of his poems in modern English. This channel has been created with the sole purpose of filling this gap.
