▬ Required information ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
First, we need to know a few things about you, like your name and your address. And of course, a little about what you need to connect, like the location of the site you need a connection for. We also need to know what you want to connect? A domestic dwelling, 230 volts single phase or typical commercial unit, a 400 volts three phase? And what do you need to power? Including motors, electric, heating, electric vehicle charging or generation, such as rooftop solar panels and details of any electrical equipment which could cause a disturbance on electricity system like large motors or welders.

If you need a quotation for one house, we guarantee to send it within 5 working days and more quickly if we can. For up to 4 houses or one small commercial connection, we guarantee to send it within 15 working days, although on average you should expect it within 6.
When you receive your quote, it will include a breakdown of costs. If you want to perceive you can make payment in a number of ways, including online. We will then call you within 2 working days to discuss states to programme in the works and about preparing your site ready for connection.
▬ Preparation ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
To ensure everything goes smoothly on the day, you will need to prepare the site ready for us to make the connection. It is important to work safely and that you contact whether utilities to find out if they have apparatus in the vicinity. You can call us to find out more about the location of our equipment and how to work safely.
If you opt it carry out the excavation works on your land, you need to ensure that the trench is the correct depth as it will vary according to the service route. Or deeper depending on the service type. For example, it will need to be deeper if laid in agricultural land. Our quote will advise.
If ducting is required, it must be black electricity ducked. Lay electricity warning tape along the length of the cable or ducked for mains and services. We can provide ducting and tape as part of your connections quote. And cover over with stone dust bedding before backfilling the trench. Please refer to your connections quote for your site's requirements.
This trench should be as straight as possible, avoiding sharp bends. If the root of the cable is to go around a 90 degree bend, say the corner of a property, this bend must have a slow radius. And if all the 30 metres you will need to leave cable draw pits open. You must remember to install a draw court through the ducting if it is over 5 metres to help us install the cable. No excavation for the cable, which should run under any building structure. The route should always be on the exterior of any footings.
You will need to install a meter box before the day of connection. We can include the cost in your quote and you can pick one up by appointment from our local depot. You will then need to arrange an electricity meter to be installed by your appointed energy supplier. This cannot be installed prior to any and all WPD works being completed.
▬ Setting up the new electricity connection ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Once you have a connection start date, we will commence any excavation work required prior to connecting your new electricity supply. On the day we come to the site to complete the connection, we will require an obstructed access to where the new supply cable is being connected, for example, an outdoor meter box. Connecting up your electricity supply to our network normally takes around half a day, depending on the size and complexity of the job. Once the connection is completed, any excavation in the highway, we'll be completed on average within the next two working days.
