Retired Samurai | Making Bad Yugioh Card Playable!

Описание к видео Retired Samurai | Making Bad Yugioh Card Playable!

I present to you, Retired Samurai! An alternative format based on Forgetful Fish where you and your opponent share a graveyard and a single 80 card deck. Fun to the core, an engaging back and forth as you and your opponent try to win using a variety of strategies from manipulating the future to trying and catching a few goldfish.

The slow blade cuts deepest.

Card choice discussion:
Swordsman from a Distant Land is the titular Samurai. It is a really bad card that I think is funny. Dandan uses 6, I just use 7 as that was the number once I came down from 11 during play testing.
Steel Scorpion is a similar card, but has to be attacked first. It has 300 defense and can survive and attack from Swordman.
Needle Worm falls into the alternative game that you can play where you try to deck out your opponent instead of wearing them down.
Parasite Paracide works with the burn strategy of the deck and is also a good mid-tier monster.
Slash Draw works as draw power and also is thematic for the deck. It will sometimes cause an abrupt end if it manages to go off.
Pot of Benevolence just acts as a way to renew the deck while Dichotomy acts as draw power and also plays into the game of trying to deck out your opponent.
De-Spell and Remove Trap act as ways of getting rid of continuous cards which I felt were a bit stronger than the single use cards. And I am a Yugi-Boomer so they are very nostalgic.
Book of Eclipse for defense, resetting flip effects, and helps mill the deck.
Gift Exchange, Yaminabe Pary, and Tilted Try act as games the Samurai is playing and offer some draw power and interaction.

Goddess Skuld's Oracle can help hinder your opponent and help you since you share a deck. You also can usually reset the deck with some of the various trap cards so it does not become too oppressive. Plus, she acts as a fortune teller at the fair grounds. I had this at 4, but having too many is a bit more boring that having it come up just a little bit.
Final Destiny is one of the deck's bombs. A high cost to clear the field.

Kingyo Sukui works very well with Skuld's Oracle and along with Hatsugai, Fukubiki, Mamemaki, Onijuji, and Matching Outfits, act as the other games that the Samurai plays in his retirement.
Seven Tools of the Bandit takes LP so it works for burn, is nostalgic, and works as a counter trap along with Magic Jammer and Counter Counter. Yu-Gi-Oh does not have a lot of counter traps that meld well with the deck as they tend to be higher specific, too generic, or based on a specific archetype, while Dandan uses a lot more counter traps. The trade off here is that you get the various games.

Conscription is another card that works with Skuld's Oracle.
Graverobber is a funny older card that cost LP to play.
Jelly Cannon is already based on a Japanese desert, and is very flavorful. And a funny battle trap.
Raigeki Bottle, I use the Ultimate version for the paper version of Retired Samurai, acts as another bomb. Very slow, but can be worth it in the end.
Extinction of Schedule works similarly to Swordsman and Scorpion and is another bomb that can come up.
Fiend Comedian is a long shot gamble that can instantly win the game by sending all the remaining cards in the deck to the graveyard and making your opponent lose by deck out. I find it funny to use in Skull Servant as well. The flavor here is that the Ninja's win by using dark Ninjutsu against the Samurai.

This is what happens when I stay up until 3AM watching Rhystic Studies! #AltFormat #Dandan #Forgetfulfish #yugiohtcg
