Join our Information Officer leaders as we review the epic and devastating 2023 wildfire season in British Columbia, Canada.

We experienced new and big challenges, including theft and sabotage of firefighting equipment, protests, the Meta news ban, and the declining impact of Canadian news media. At least 500 structures were damaged or destroyed across the province, with two-thirds in regions we supported. It was a very long season for so many residents, responders, workers, and volunteers.

Between July and October, we jumped between three local government emergency operations centres, all active for nearly 100 days.
