This Tree Was Headed to the Landfill | Live Edge Slab Maple Countertop | Epoxy | Bowties. We pick out a hard maple slab and flatten it on the Slab Mizer. Then we cut in some walnut bowties to stabilize it. We fill the crack with epoxy died black. We cut holes for an under mount sink and drop in cooktop. We route the edges, sand and finish the slab with walrus oil. We use the live edge as a backsplash, attaching it with a Festool Domino. This video could be a good tutorial on how to make a live edge wood countertop.
