A MUST-DO on Tasmania's West Coast - Gordon River Cruise, Strahan

Описание к видео A MUST-DO on Tasmania's West Coast - Gordon River Cruise, Strahan

Tasmania’s wild west coast is one of the last remaining untouched wilderness areas on the planet. While we were in Strahan we really wanted to see this World Heritage Wilderness area up close. But being so wild, means its pretty inaccessible, except by boat. So we went on World Heritage Cruises’ Gordon River Cruise.

But it’s not only the wilderness here; Tasmania has a brutal convict history, and incredible stories of piners going into the wild for months to find the highly-valued (and now protected) Huon Pine.

The cruise was a great overview of the area, as we visited not only the wild temperate rain-forest, but also sailed down Macquarie Harbour and through Hell's Gates. We visited the former convict penal colony at Sarah Island and had a guided tour of the ruins.

In this episode we also drive on the beach near Macquarie Heads, and check out Australia's longest running play "The Ship that Never Was".
