Balham is an very important station that is a really important junction on the Brighton Main Line for suburban services that are departing Victoria planning to go from London to destinations like Sutton, Croydon, Epsom, Purley and Dorking.
Because of this, even though it only has two platforms, the station can actually get backed up in both directions, thanks to the sheer amount of trains in the rush hour and the slightly unusual stopping patterns.
Speaking of unusual stopping patterns, that is what Wandsworth Common really has for its stopping patterns and most of the further afield trains that go via Hackbridge and some other Metro trains.
The infrastructure isn't even that unusual, considering it has the footbridge that is similar to several other stations including Streatham Common, a building that wouldn't be too out-of-place in Victorian Britain, but the unusual-ness comes with it being in an actual park.
Although, Battersea Park and Honor Oak Park do really come close, both also having services that go to Wandsworth Common, the actual station can be accessed through the park on the southern end.
However, the fact that are both true for both Balham and Wandsworth Common, is that they were both closed twice for very different reasons, they both are not served by Gatwick Express trains and that they've both got green lampposts.
So, that's it for the facts of the day, but it's not really the end of the description.
Balham and Wandsworth Common, combined, are both stations that have so many trains that pass both stations or stop at both stations, that in the process of making the video, I recorded on Monday (17th September 2018) in one clip, which isn't notable.
However on the two days after it, which comprise the majority of this train video, I managed to get about 17 minutes combined from 25 minutes of recording on Tuesday and 25 more minutes on Wednesday.
Basically, there could have been a lot more video, but I didn't really want to record more video, especially since all of the footage combined was in 18 minutes in total.
Either way, this is probably the longest description I have done in a month, so expect a video that is either in this month or in October, so...
Recorded on the 17th, 18th and 19th of September 2018 and edited on the 19th of September 2018.
