7 Basic Customs You Must Know To Impress A Vietnamese Woman... Part 1

In this video, I share 7 basic customs you need to know when dating a mature Vietnamese woman. Such a woman will value her culture and customs, and taking the time to know and adopting these customs will demonstrate that you’re in this for the long term vs. casual dating.

Apply the tips I’m sharing here on your first date, second date and beyond, and you’ll impress her and her family. The latter is important since they will be a factor in her decision in entering a serious relationship with you.
Note that these tips are basic manners when you’re still in the dating phase. During the courtship process, there are other things I’ll be sharing with you that you should be aware of.

If you haven’t seen my videos on what you should do on the first date and how to get the 2nd date with a mature Vietnamese woman, please go watch those first, and then come back here.

1. Bring Food Or A Small Gift When Visiting Her.

If you are picking her up and invited in, make sure you have a small gift. To avoid any complications, it’s best to bring a small basket of fresh fruit. If you’re in Vietnam and in a major city, there’s literally a street vendor with 50 feet of you in each direction. Food is a love language and is a big part of Vietnamese culture. Giving food is a way of showing that you are sharing in the abundance of life. Give the gift to your lady, and she’ll then take it to the kitchen to share it with her other family members.

2. Do Not Wear Shoes Into Her House.

If you’re visiting her house, ask her if you should take off your shoes. Even in the US and even in a tiled house, Vietnamese people rarely wear shoes in the house. Instead, we walk around barefoot or wear sandals. If you’re wearing shoes with socks, take the shoes off as soon as you enter the house, and walk around in socks. This is really an issue of courtesy since one of her family members or she has swept the floor of the house. If in doubt, ask to avoid any issues.

3. Greet Her Parents And Older Siblings Formally.

I’ve mentioned this in other videos so I won’t go too deep in here but remember to greet her parents and older siblings very formally. Doing this wrong can be a major setback for you. If you have any questions about this, watch my video about how to address older Vietnamese people.

That's all for this first video of the 2 part video series. My name is Vanessa Ho. Thanks for watching and thanks for your time.

I would love to hear back from you, so please feel free to share your feedback, comments or any questions that you may have. I will do my best to respond to you.

Have a great day! I love seeing you on my next video.
