The most aristocratic mansion in Madrid!

Discover how a 19th Century aristocrat in Madrid really lived. And what is the true opulence of a 19th Century aristocrat in Spain? This week, Ollie and Camilla are exploring Spain's capital and take you inside this striking seventeenth-century mansion, right in the heart of the city. Once owned by the Marquis of Cerralbo, you can really sense the 1800s splendour of this impressively designed and decorated mansion. As well as stunning interior design, it houses a collection of over 50,000 objects, many rare, from coloured glass chandeliers, to sumptuous furniture, floral vases and much, much more.

And for the final section of this episode, we take you to a little palace, once home to the artist Joaquín Sorolla, famous for his depiction of light in painting. The palace retains the much of its traditional decoration, and houses many of Sorolla’s most famous paintings, and outside, we enjoy exquisite gardens boasting beautiful water features and quiet contemplative corners.
