"Personal Jesus" Johnny Cash | Easy Blues Riff w/ TABs + Visuals

Описание к видео "Personal Jesus" Johnny Cash | Easy Blues Riff w/ TABs + Visuals

Learn to play "Personal Jesus" Guitar Lesson + Tutorial, by Johnny Cash (orig. Depeche Mode). This is a great riff for acoustic or electric! It's based on the minor pentatonic scale and mostly uses just 3 notes. The chords are easy as well, but the strumming pattern varies throughout. This is a great minor blues riff for beginners, and even if you JUST learn that, you'll have come away with a really cool guitar lick to impress your friends!

"Personal Jesus" CHORDS: G, D, Am, Em/B, C, F#7, Fmaj7

The lesson begins with the main riff, which uses just a couple notes but it's all about the details: knowing which strings to hit, which ones to graze, exactly how hard to press. That's what's going to make this one sound a lot more authentic. The other thing I'd like to point out is that they're using a heavy amount of compression. That's an effect that you would apply in the studio to make the guitar sound really squishy.

Once we've learned the riff we practice it with the song a little bit and then we learn the next riff, which is pretty similar but has one extra bit and takes place on different strings. We put that together with the first riff and play through the first part of the tune.

The verse has some chords and strumming: G, D, Am, Em/B, C. The strumming patterns are all based on the most common strumming pattern ever, but there are some slight variations. We learn it exactly like it is on the recording and then play it together. We do the same thing for the chorus which uses a couple additional chords.

Finally, there's the outro which is basically just a little part of the chorus but with a simplified strumming pattern and that's it! After learning each part and practicing everything separately we put it all together and play through the tune nice and slow.

If you'd like to practice the entire song with me, there's a full playthrough available on my Patreon page, where I play through the entire song, start to finish. More information on that here:   / 63013977
