Recording a CD in Germany - Flute Tube Update

Описание к видео Recording a CD in Germany - Flute Tube Update

This video describes the process that my trio, Hat Trick, went through to record our second CD. We decided to do this recording in Bremen Germany. Why?? And how?? I talk about that in this kind-of-long video. (if you find it too long, skip around using the guide below!) I hope I managed to get straight to the info that may be most interesting/useful to You, The Flute Tube Viewers. Perhaps some of you are interested in the process of recording/producing a CD for commercial release? Or just interested in knowing why I took off in the middle of November to spend a week in Bremen, Germany? Well.... maybe that last question is not so mysterious; who wouldn't want to travel to Bremen for at least a week? :D

Hat Trick members are myself on flute, David Wallace on viola, and Kristi Shade on harp. This is our website:

You can find David Wallace here on YouTube, as well!

We were VERY fortunate to commission two composers for this CD project. Our initial commission with Daniel Dorff was the seed that got this whole CD project off the ground. When Hat Trick met together in Boston in late June 2023, we realized we could fit one more short piece into our CD programming. At that point, we began discussions with composer Jessica Meyer about writing a piece for us. Fortunately, she was able to squeeze in a last-minute commission, which we received just before the deadline we set of November 1, 2023. As we were aware that it would, it gave us ONE opportunity to rehearse her piece together in Germany before we began our recording sessions. We're so happy to have facilitated the creation of these two pieces! We have already premiered "Big Sky" by Daniel Dorff, as discussed in this video. We're eagerly awaiting our premiere performances of "My Heart is the Churning Sea" by Jessica Meyer!
