One summer, three couples hike into a remote forest, high in the Colorado Rockies. The guys look forward to climbing the infamous Suicide Peak, while the ladies look forward to spending time with their boyfriends and enjoying the sun and camping. Little do they know, deep in the forest a predator lies in wait, ready to stalk it's prey. One by one, the campers are ruthlessly hunted down by the deformed maniac.

The Prey was written, directed, and produced by the duo of Edwin and Summer Brown. Although filmed in 1978, it was not released until 1984. It is notable as being the final film of Jackie Coogan's career. Coogan is best known for playing the role of Uncle Fester in the classic 1960's sitcom, The Adams Family.

Despite many negative reviews, Dread Central gave the film a positive review calling it "an effective little backwoods slasher offering some vicious kills and a memorable, downbeat shock ending". Author and literary critic, John Kenneth Muir, also gave the film a positive review, calling it "A modest but noteworthy entry into the mountain man/slasher genre".
