HACO Industries to stop production of Bic pens in 2019

Beginning January 2019, HACO Industries will no longer be manufacturing BIC products in Kenya.
This is because the company, together with Societe Bic have formally signed over manufacturing and distribution facilities back to the parent company. This agreement will affect distribution of stationery, lighters, and shavers in East Africa, functions that will now be fully under BIC. HACO Industries upscaled production facilities from a  small assembly plant  based in Mombasa to the current semi- automated production plant.  located in Kasarani; with a market presence in the entire East 
African region including Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia, and Tanzania. This agreement, however, is subject to approval from the Competition Authority.
