In this review, we'll be taking a look to see if this is a solid IKEA desk. So with the worktop, I found that you get a good amount of space to put your laptop, monitor, desk lamps and more. You also have a cable outlet on top to keep your cables more organized. With the Hemnes IKEA desk you get a drawer unit and a cabinet that can be assembled on either side. You can store binders/notebooks in the cabinet and it also comes with an adjustable shelf. You can take the shelf out and put a desktop in the cabinet if you want to have more space on top of the desk. As for the drawers of this IKEA desk, the top drawer can be used to store all your small desk essentials. It also comes with a small compartment where you can store paper clips, binder clips etc. The purpose of the bottom drawer is to organize files. You can adjust the frame to either fit legal, A4 or letter sized folders. Overall, I found the Hemnes to be a very solid desk other than the fact that it's made out of pine. Pine is a softwood so the desk will dent really easily.
