Wai-O-Tapu Geothermal Park is located in the southern suburbs of Rotorua, about 30 kilometers away from Rotorua.
Rotorua and the surrounding area are rich in geothermal resources, and the Wai-O-Tapu Geothermal Park is one of the most classic. The Wai-O-Tapu geothermal area covers a total area of 18 square kilometers, but only a small part of the park is open to the public – this area is not very large but full of fascinating pits, boiling mud, geysers and water vapor vents.
