Do you utilize Facebook or Google reviews? Do you know they are an important part of your business?

Like it or not, online reviews exist, whether it's on Facebook, Google, or Yelp. More people are checking reviews online and if you have negative reviews, it can impact you and cost you money, therefore, the best defense is a good offense.

Having an offensive strategy will help combat future negative reviews.

The worst thing that you can experience when you get a negative review is figuring out how to fix it. A better way to handle future negative reviews is to have as many positive reviews as you can so one negative rating doesn’t affect your overall rating.

Did you know that most people are 10x's more likely to talk about a negative experience rather than a positive one? For that reason, it's important to remind people to talk about their positive experience after they leave your business.

For example: One of my clients who owns a hair salon recently had a disgruntled employee leave their company. This employee went and had all of their friends write a negative review of the company online. These negative reviews took the salon from a 4.8 rating down to a 2.0 in a matter of a couple hours! My client was stumped and didn’t know what to do about it.

Here’s what you can do to make sure that doesn’t happen to your business.

When people come to your business, you want them to do a couple of things:

Check in
Share a photo
Leave a review

To make sure they do all of these things, you can post a simple sign that says:

"If you check in, post a photo and leave a review, we will give you $5 off your next visit."

Giving a reward and incentivizing them to do something will encourage the proactive strategy of getting amazing and honest reviews.

Since you asked for the review, the outcome will most likely be a rockin’ five star review! If you happen to receive four stars, then take that opportunity to ask,

“How can we make your experience even better?”
