Consumer confidence appears to be picking up.
The FNB/BER Consumer Confidence Index rose from minus 10 to minus 5 index points during the third quarter of this year.
While this reading still doesn't appear that impressive being below zero, FNB says the minus 5 reading is the highest that confidence has been since the first half of 2019.
From the beginning of the year, the Consumer Confidence gauge has jumped by 10 points, while from the middle of last year to now, it's jumped by 20 points, which FNB says signals a
pronounced improvement in consumers' willingness to spend and bodes well for the consumer spending outlook for the rest of the year.
