Описание к видео fertilisation || fertilisation of egg in women

This is one of the most fundamental questions humanity has ever asked. Scientifically, life begins at the moment when the male reproductive cell, the sperm, successfully unites with the female reproductive cell, the egg. This remarkable biological event is called fertilisation (or conception). It is the very first step in the long journey of creating a human being. From that point, a single microscopic cell will undergo countless divisions, transformations, and developments, eventually growing into a baby ready to be born.
Fertilisation is the process by which a sperm cell from a man and an egg cell from a woman fuse together to form a single new cell called the zygote. The sperm carries half of the genetic information (23 chromosomes), and the egg carries the other half (23 chromosomes). When they unite, the zygote has a complete set of 46 chromosomes, containing all the instructions needed to form a unique human being. When a man ejaculates during intercourse, around 200 to 300 million sperm cells are released into the female reproductive tract. Yet, despite such a massive number, only one will succeed in fertilising the egg.
Immediately after entry, most sperms die due to the acidic environment of the vagina.
The egg, or ovum, is one of the largest cells in the human body. It is released once a month from a woman’s ovary during a process known as ovulation. After release, the egg travels into the fallopian tube and remains viable for only about 12 to 24 hours.
This short window is crucial. If a sperm reaches the egg within this time frame, fertilisation occurs. If not, the egg disintegrates and is shed during menstruation. This delicate timing shows how precise nature’s mechanism for reproduction is.When the sperm successfully merges with the egg, the process of fertilisation is complete. The cell that forms is called the zygote. This single cell contains all the hereditary material from both parents and is the foundation of new life.
The zygote immediately begins to divide — first into two cells, then four, then eight, and so on. As it travels through the fallopian tube toward the uterus, it keeps dividing, forming a tiny cluster of cells known as the embryo.
Within a few days, the embryo reaches the uterus and attaches itself to the uterine wall in a process called implantation. This step is critical because now the developing embryo can receive nourishment and oxygen from the mother’s body.
Once implantation occurs, the real miracle of life unfolds. The embryo slowly develops into a foetus. This process is divided into different stages:

1. First Trimester (0–12 weeks):
The embryo’s major organs begin to form.
The heart starts beating around the 5th–6th week.
Arms, legs, brain, spinal cord, and facial features begin to appear.
2. Second Trimester (13–26 weeks):
The foetus grows rapidly in size and weight.
The mother starts feeling movements, known as “quickening.”
Organs become more developed, and the foetus starts responding to external sounds.
3. Third Trimester (27–40 weeks):
The baby’s brain and lungs mature.
Fat layers build under the skin for warmth after birth.
By the end of this stage, the baby is usually in the head-down position, ready for delivery.
During these months, the placenta — a temporary organ — plays a vital role. It supplies nutrients and oxygen from the mother’s blood to the baby while removing waste products. The umbilical cord connects the baby to the placenta, acting as a lifeline.
