In this video, we share the top six things that surprised us most about our first year of early retirement.

After retiring from our corporate jobs in Singapore in October of 2019, we began traveling full time. Of course, when COVID hit, we had to temporarily stop our travels and have only recently gotten back on the road.

Our first surprise related to our emergency fund and how we ended up blowing through it faster than expected with the high number of emergencies this year.

The next few surprises have to do with our new post-retirement lifestyle of traveling full time, including living out of suitcases; our pace of travel; our everyday routines now that we no longer had to work; and spending so much time together.

Finally, we share the one area of our budget that we spent way more on than expected and our thoughts on how to budget for it in the future.
