The uproar began as soon as Question Hour commenced, with opposition members rushing into the well of the House, blocking the Speaker’s view with banners and shouting slogans accusing the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government of mishandling the investigation and shielding those responsible. Opposition leaders, including V D Satheesan, alleged that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the case has stalled, allowing key accused individuals to secure statutory bail and questioning the government’s interference in the inquiry. Amid the disruptions, some MLAs even attempted to approach the Speaker’s dais, prompting intervention from Watch and Ward officials and leading to repeated adjournments.
