LIVE | India China Border Standoff: Is New Delhi Shifting its Approach? | Vantage with Palki Sharma

India is seemingly changing its approach towards China. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Kazakhstan's Astana. Instead, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is representing the country. As per Chinese observers, PM Modi's absence from the summit can be attributed to the long-standing border standoff between India and China. Today, EAM Jaishankar met his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Astana, on the sidelines of the summit, and discussed the border standoff. Both sides agreed to "re-double efforts" to resolve the issue. However, there have been several high-level discussions between New Delhi and Beijing on the border issue, but China hasn't pulled back its troops yet.

Apart from putting a hold on high-level contact with Beijing, New Delhi is hitting back at China on the economic front as well. India has refused to resume direct passenger flights to China, despite Beijing's perpetual requests. India has also adopted a bold approach on issues like Taiwan and Tibet. On Vantage tonight, Palki Sharma tells you more.
