Lung Cancer Awareness Month is an opportunity to shine a light on the global burden of lung cancer, reflect on progress achieved so far and identify unmet patient needs to drive the next era of transformation. At AstraZeneca, lung cancer research has been a part of our fabric for more than 30 years and is an area that we have prioritised, to address the significant unmet need for treatments at every stage of the disease continuum.

Dave Fredrickson, EVP Oncology Business Unit, AstraZeneca, has convened a panel of experts from the field of lung cancer care: Anne-Marie Baird, BSc, PhD, Lung Cancer Europe; Roy S. Herbst, MD, PhD, Yale Center Center and Smilow Cancer Hospital; and Brendon Stiles, MD, Weill Cornell Medical College and Lung Cancer Research Foundation. The panel discusses how the lung cancer community is rapidly adapting in response to the ‘new normal’ and evolving to maintain and continue progress during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, the panellists share insights about the ongoing unmet needs in lung cancer and how some of the latest innovations in early screening and treatment have been transformative in improving patient outcomes.
