After the fiddly business of recording 9-9. this was a joy! The first time I ever listened to Murmur I remember this being the song that really stood out, and it's still one of my favourites. On listening you realise that it's really all Mike Mills, the piano and bass combine to really drive it along. Peter is relegated to a fairly simplistic guitar lick, reminiscent of the British Invasion bands of the 60s that the band took a lot of inspiration from, and probably the one remnant of early live versions of this song where it's very much a rock'n'roll song in the same vein as Permanent Vacation or All The Right Friends.
