"As the Sudanese people took to the streets to demand change, a young woman climbed on the roof of a car. Protesters captured the lady liberty moment, as she pointed her finger in the air. She read a poem that would become one of the slogans of the Sudanese revolution: 'The bullets do not kill. It's the silence of the people that kills. It is silence that kills,'" said Senator Ben Cardin, chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee (D-Md.).
