Let's Talk PMDD

Описание к видео Let's Talk PMDD

Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) is a very a severe form of premenstrual syndrome (PMS). It causes a range of emotional and physical symptoms every month during the week or two before your period.

The mental and emotional impact of PMDD can make it difficult to work, socialise and have healthy relationships. In some cases, it can also lead to suicidal thoughts.

In our first webinar of the year, we will explore the symptoms of PMDD, what women can do to advocate for themselves and the support available.

Our Chair, Professor Dame Lesley Regan, hosted this open conversation. She was joined by Thomas Reilly, a Clinical Research Training Fellow. Thomas is a DPhil student and Specialist Registrar in General Adult Psychiatry, interested in how hormones affect mental health.

Our guest speaker was Clare-Louise Knox, who has turned her own experience of working with PMDD into her mission to revolutionise the way menstrual and reproductive health conditions are addressed in the workplace.
