5 Way Telecaster Wiring

Описание к видео 5 Way Telecaster Wiring

How to wire a 5 way Telecaster - in this video we cover how to add 2 extra tonal options by adding a 5 way switch to a Telecaster, aka the Bill Lawrence Mod.

The 5 way Telecaster wiring setup allows the pickups to be played HOOP (half out of phase) as well as a brighter neck pickup tone, ideal for a sudden solo boost. The setup uses two capacitors, 0.022 on the tone control and a 5000pf on the switch. However, you can mix and match the switch capacitor, anywhere between 0.005 µF (5000 pF) and 0.02 µF will work nicely. The smaller the capacitor, the sweeter the sound. You can also play around with the tone capacitor. Here I use a 0.022uF, you can change this out for a 0.033uF or a 0.047uF.

Switch Positions:

1) Neck
2) Neck & bridge (parallel)
3) Bridge
4) Neck & bridge (Half out of phase)
5) Neck only, + extra 10-15% top end depending on switch cap value.
