A questioner says her ego keeps getting in the way of her being at peace. How can she overcome this when, for example, she is having a difficult conversation with a sibling or when dealing with challenging emotions?

Rupert says to recognise the qualities of your essential self or being — such as peace, stillness and emptiness. Then, when there’s a pause in the midst of a conversation go back to yourself, recognize those qualities again and carry on with the conversation. Five minutes later when there's another pause go back to being and then back to the conversation again.

At some stage, you feel that this background peace is not just something you visit from time to time — you begin to feel that you live there. You still get lost in your emotions from time to time but you lose yourself less and less as you become increasingly established in your being.
